How to Choose a Laptop Stand for Your Desk

Rotating Aluminum Laptop Stand

Start with laptop fit, the space available and whether you use a separate keyboard. Then compare a rotating, adjustable, folding or compact-riser design.

Compare by the task you need done

Setup priority Option to consider Check before ordering
Change viewing direction Rotating stand Base footprint, laptop support size and weight limit
Change laptop position Adjustable stand Adjustment range and stability for your device
Pack the setup away Foldable stand Folded dimensions and current availability
A small rear lift Riser feet Attachment requirements and underside vent positions

1. Measure the laptop, not just its screen

Two laptops with the same screen diagonal can have different bodies and weights. Note your device model, width, depth and weight. Compare these with the stand's support area and load limit. If a required dimension is not stated, ask us to confirm it rather than assuming universal compatibility.

2. Decide where you will type

If the laptop is raised, its built-in keyboard moves with it. Plan a separate keyboard and mouse area when that is the workstation you want. On a compact desk, account for all three footprints: stand, keyboard and mouse. A stand that fits the laptop may still be too large for the complete layout.

3. Check the desk around the stand

Look for overhead shelves, monitor arms, cable connections and the space behind the open screen. Place a paper outline of the stand base on the desk if you have confirmed dimensions. Keep laptop vents clear and use a stable, level surface.

4. Separate colour from function

Some products vary only by listed finish, while others have distinct versions such as Black and Black Upgrade. Do not assume an upgrade label means a specific adjustment range or accessory is included. Check the variant and ask about the exact difference if it matters to your purchase.

5. Choose a portable routine you will actually use

For a setup that moves daily, compare the packed stand dimensions with your bag and the space needed by your peripherals. For a permanent desk, the full working footprint and access to cables may matter more than how small the stand folds.

Before you add to cart

Write a fit checklist for your actual laptop

Before comparing finishes, record: laptop model; body width and depth; weight; underside vent locations; stand support dimensions; load limit; base footprint; and open-screen clearance. Mark an unanswered specification as “needs confirmation”. A large catalogue inventory number does not establish fit or dispatch speed.

If you mainly want a small rear lift, compare riser feet versus a full stand before committing space to a raised workstation. If you need a raised screen and separate typing area, rehearse the full stand–keyboard–mouse layout.
